Matthew J. Edmonds is a Partner and Chief Innovation Officer at PJT Partners, based in New York. Mr. Edmonds has over 25 years of experience in alternative investment management and investment banking. Prior to joining PJT Partners, Mr. Edmonds spent 16 years as an investor, operating partner and advisor across a broad range of alternative investment businesses, and almost 10 years at Morgan Stanley in investment banking.
From 2014 to late 2017, Mr. Edmonds was a Partner and President of Hutchin Hill Capital, a global quant-focused multi-strategy hedge fund. Before Hutchin Hill, Mr. Edmonds partnered with Timothy R. Barakett building and operating two highly successful investment management businesses: Atticus Capital, an event-driven equity hedge fund (as President and COO from 2003-2010) and TRB Advisors, a global direct investment firm (as CEO from 2010-2014). Prior to his career in investment management, Mr. Edmonds worked at Morgan Stanley in New York in M&A, Corporate Finance and Firm Management.
Mr. Edmonds is President of the University of Melbourne USA Foundation and an active supporter of the Robin Hood Foundation in New York. He received Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws (with honors) degrees from the University of Melbourne, Australia and holds an MBA (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Columbia Business School in New York.
